‘You complete me’, said the Shiraz to the Tempranillo during the fortification of this beautifully balanced wine. well, at least that’s what we imagine occurred when we ponder it’s perfect Yin meets Yang equilibrium.

LOVE IT FOR: It’s perfect balance of Yin and Yang. Drink now or cellar. Sip at room temp or chilled. Enjoy with savoury or sweet.

DRINKS LIKE: Bright blackberry. Lifted spice. savoury character. 18 months in new and old oak.

FUN FACT: Fortifieds are rare finds in the Adelaide Hills. In fact, the number of quality fortified producers can most likely be counted on the one hand.

Season

Season

2024 delivered a cool, even growing season that yielded wines with intense yet delicate flavours and vibrant colours. February and March saw an absence of rainfall, coupled with low crop yields and warmer temperatures, which led to an unusually fast-paced harvest.

Vinification

Vinification

Tempranillo and Shiraz were picked in the cool of early morning, cold-soaked for five days, then fermented with regular pump-overs to build colour and flavour. Both wines were fortified mid-ferment at 7.5 Bé with brandy spirit to 19% abv, before ageing for 18 months in three seasoned puncheons. The final blend is 76.5% Shiraz and 23.5% Tempranillo.

Deep ruby with a purple tint into the rim, a touch of viscosity in the glass. Mulberry, crushed lavender bush and white pepper aromas with a lift of spirit. Palate fills with rich sweet mulberry, rosemary, anise and violets all filling the sense. The sweetness is well balanced by a subtle tannin line and both acid and spirit lifting and freshening it. Rolls very long and keeps its form and balance right to the end. It is not overly sweet, offering some classic cooler climate shiraz nuances that make it immensely appealing particularly alongside cheese and some desserts. It will be fascinating to see how this matures in bottle
