New Head Winemaker Joins The Lane Vineyard

Sam Milne Takes the Helm as Head Winemaker at The Lane Vineyard

Adelaide Hills, January 16, 2024 – The Lane Vineyard proudly announces the appointment of Sam Milne as its new Head Winemaker, effective January 15, 2024. Sam’s global expertise and multi-regional experience bring a new dynamic to The Lane Vineyard team.

Sam’s journey began in the heart of a winemaking family, fostering a lifelong passion that led him to earn a Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide. His experience spans renowned regions including Central Otago, Yarra Valley, Northern Rhone, Hunter Valley, McLaren Vale, Russian River Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Barossa Valley. Most recently Sam has been working in a senior winemaking role with Accolade across a range of portfolios including Stonier in Mornington, and Tintara in McLaren Vale.

Joining The Lane Vineyard aligns seamlessly with Sam’s commitment to premium, cool climate winemaking. The Lane Vineyard’s CEO Jared Stringer emphasises, “Sam’s global experience and dedication to innovation make him the ideal leader for our winemaking team. We have been making significant improvements to our estate vineyards and wine portfolio this past 5 years and Sam is the perfect winemaker to continue this evolution.”

Sam’s winemaking philosophy centres on meticulous attention to detail, respect for traditional techniques, and continuous improvement. “I’m thrilled to be part of The Lane Vineyard’s ambitious journey” says Sam Milne. “My goal is to build on the brand’s legacy, ensuring consistency and quality, but above all, I want to make sure each of the single vineyard sites shines through in the wines”.
