2021 Cabernet Franc wins Trophy for ‘Best Red Varietal’

The Lane’s 2021 Provenance Cabernet Franc has taken home the trophy for ‘Best Red Varietal’ at this year’s National Wine Show Australia.

We could not be prouder! The trophy follows close on the heels of some outstanding points recently awarded to the Cabernet Franc by several esteemed wine critics:

95 points – Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

95 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

95 points – Ned Goodwin, MW

92 points – Angus Hughson, The Wine Pilot

Best described as a soft, gentle and aromatic version of Cabernet Sauvignon – the Cabernet Franc showcases rich aromatics of blackberry, roasted coffee beans, nutmeg and fennel with a palate of blood plum, dark chocolate and savoury spices finishing in soft, seamless tannins. Fruit is 100% estate grown and handpicked from a single north-facing block. Destemmed, basket-pressed and fermented steadily over 11 days, the wine is then pressed into seasoned French oak where it completes malolactic fermentation and settles to mature for 9 months before bottling.
